Charles Steel was named managing director in Ares Management's private equity group — the first London-based member of Ares' private equity group, said spokesman Bill Mendel in an e-mail.
Mr. Steel previously served as an adviser on finance and business development to former British Prime Minister Tony Blair at the Office of the Quartet Representative in Jerusalem. (Mr. Blair is the official envoy for the Middle East Quartet — United Nations, European Union, U.S. and Russia —involved in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.)
