Ronie Ganguly joined PIMCO in Singapore as a senior vice president and Asia credit/emerging markets corporate portfolio manager.
Mr. Ganguly replaces Malcolm Chua, a senior vice president and emerging markets portfolio manager, who left in March, according to Rob Mead, head of Asia-Pacific credit portfolio management at PIMCO, in an emailed response to questions.
In the email, Mr. Mead said Mr. Ganguly, as one of PIMCO's 10 portfolio managers in the Asia Pacific region, will have a special focus on high yield securities.
Mr. Ganguly was joint head of Asia high-yield credit trading in Deutsche Bank's investment banking division, together with Anand Subramanian.
With Mr. Ganguly's departure, Mr. Subramanian has been named sole head of Asia high-yield credit trading, said Jeremy Hughes, a Singapore-based spokesman for Deutsche Bank.
PIMCO is poised to add further "specialty credit resources to our portfolio management" as Asia Pacific bond markets continue to evolve and deepen, Mr. Mead said.
