Julia Durand was named deferred compensation plan manager at the $17 billion San Francisco City and County Employees' Retirement System, effective May 13, Norm Nickens, the pension fund's executive assistant, confirmed Wednesday.
Ms. Durand replaces Carol Cypert, who retired Dec. 14.
Ms. Durand is currently director of defined contribution solutions for the $163.7 billion California State Teachers' Retirement System, West Sacramento. CalSTRS spokesman Ricardo Duran said the retirement system is conducting an active search for a replacement.
In San Francisco, Mr. Nickens had been serving as acting deferred compensation plan manager until a replacement was named.
Ms. Durand has more than 25 years of experience in public-sector defined contribution plan administration, including 19 years at the $258.3 billion California Public Employees' Retirement System, Sacramento, and six at CalSTRS.
Ms. Durand is a member of the National Association of Government Defined Contribution Administrators. She currently serves on the NAGDCA executive board and was the immediate past president in 2012.
