Hirofumi Hirano will join KKR Japan as managing director and CEO, effective April 15.
Mr. Hirano will replace Shusaku Minoda, who in turn will take on the position of chairman of KKR Japan.
In an e-mail, Steven Okun, a Singapore-based spokesman for KKR, said Deryck Maughan, who previously served as chairman, took on the role of senior adviser to KKR Japan earlier this year.
Mr. Hirano was managing director and head of Asia financial service industry practice at business consulting firm AlixPartners Asia.
Tim Yost, a spokesman for AlixPartners, couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
