Peter H. Ammon was named chief investment officer at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, confirmed spokesman Ron Ozio.
Mr. Ammon will begin his role as CIO overseeing the university's $6.8 billion endowment and $1 billion pension plan on July 1. He succeeds Kristin Gilbertson, who stepped down as CIO in October.
David Harkins, the endowment's managing director of public markets, will continue as interim CIO until Mr. Ammon's arrival.
Mr. Ammon is a director in the investments office at Yale University, New Haven, Conn., which oversees the university's $19.3 billion endowment.
