New York State Common Retirement Fund, Albany, made a $100 million commitment to private equity fund Palladium Equity Partners IV and a $70 million investment to hedge fund Discovery Global Opportunity Partners, confirmed Eric Sumberg, a spokesman for state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, the sole trustee of the $152.9 billion pension fund.
The Palladium fund “is a low- to midmarket buyout fund that focuses on companies expected to benefit from the growth of the Hispanic population in the U.S.,” Mr. Sumberg wrote in an e-mail.
The pension fund previously invested $70 million with Palladium Equity Partners, Mr. Sumberg added.
Discovery Global Opportunity Partners focuses on emerging markets, Mr. Sumberg wrote. The pension fund previously invested $113.5 million with Discovery Global, he added.
