David Shell was hired as chief investment officer of the growth equities business at Logan Circle Partners as part of a plan to develop an equity strategy at the firm, according to a press release.
Mr. Shell was co-CIO of growth equities at Goldman Sachs Asset Management. GSAM spokesman Andrew Williams could not provide information on a replacement by deadline.
The Logan Circle team will concentrate on domestic growth equities. Mr. Shell and his team will be based in Tampa, Fla.
“Dave Shell runs money the way I like in a way that we can relate to,” which is research- and company-driven, said Jude Driscoll, founder and CEO of Logan Circle.
Mr. Driscoll added that he likes the competitive landscape for U.S. domestic large-cap equities, with a number of managers moving to passively managed strategies. “We see a place for people that generate alpha,” he said.
Logan Circle currently manages $21 billion in fixed income.
