Bill Talbot was named senior managing director and senior portfolio manager of the new U.S. small-cap equity team at Manulife Asset Management, confirmed Christopher Conkey, chief investment officer, global equities.
Mr. Talbot will lead the firm's new U.S. small-cap equity team in Manulife's Chicago office beginning April 1. He and his team come from UBS Global Asset Management.
Mr. Conkey said in a telephone interview that this was an existing capability in which the firm decided to go in a different direction. The firm's previous small-cap equity team left the firm in February. Mr. Conkey would not provide further information.
Along with Mr. Talbot from UBS Global are Joseph Nowinski, managing director and portfolio manager; and Vikram Kaura and Travis Schaftenaar, both directors and senior investment analysts.
UBS spokeswoman Megan Stimson could not provide further information regarding the team's titles and whether they will be replaced.
