Ohio PERS invests in Kynikos hedge fund

Ohio Public Employees Retirement System, Columbus, made a $100 million direct investment in Kynikos Opportunity Fund, a long/short equity fund managed by Kynikos Associates, confirmed spokeswoman Julie Graham-Price.

The investment brings the total direct investments in hedge funds for the retirement system to $3.6 billion.

The retirement system oversees $67.6 billion in defined benefit assets.

Hedge fund consultant Aksia assisted.
