Derek R. Braddock and William R. Matthews III will hang out the shingle Monday for their new executive specialist recruitment firm, BraddockMatthews.
Supported by a team of five recruiters and support staff, the pair will work exclusively in the money management and financial services industries from offices in New York and Boston. Mr. Matthews is based in Boston; Mr. Braddock heads the New York office.
Both headhunters were managing partners at HigdonBraddockMatthews, now Higdon Partners.
“Derek and I are both very busy with active searches that will come with us to our new firm. We are excited as entrepreneurs to start on our own,” Mr. Matthews said in an interview. He stressed the duo's separation from their former firm was amicable.
Jane Bierwirth, a managing partner at Higdon Partners agreed the split was friendly and “came as no surprise. Bill and Derek have always wanted to go off on their own, and their search focus is heavily toward private equity and investment banking searches. I'm sure they will continue with that focus, and we wish them well.”
