Vanguard on Friday announced five new appointments for members of its investment management teams as part of its practice of rotating positions to broaden experience and responsibilities, confirmed spokeswoman Linda Wolohan.
Joseph Brennan was named head of Vanguard's equity index group. Mr. Brennan replaces Sandip Bhagat, who resigned as head of the equity group in December. Mr. Brennan was formerly the Asia-Pacific chief investment officer, a role that has been assumed by Gregory Davis, former head of the bond index group.
Mr. Davis was replaced by Josh Barrickman, who formerly was a bond index manager and led the firm's bond ETF management since its 2007 inception.
John Ameriks was named head of the active equity group within the equity investment group. Mr. Ameriks was formerly head of Vanguard's investment counseling and research group, a position that is being assumed by Catherine Gordon, former head of institutional advisory services. Ms. Gordon created the investment counseling and research group in 2001. It has not been decided who will replace Ms. Gordon in her institutional advisory services role, Ms. Wolohan said in a telephone interview.
All five are principals at Vanguard, and the new positions are effective Friday.
