Chen Fan Fai joined Eastspring Investments Berhad, the Malaysian arm of Prudential's Asian money management business, as chief investment officer, country head, confirmed a Kuala Lumpur-based spokeswoman for the firm.
The position is a new one at the firm, which oversaw a combined 21 billion ringgit (US$6.8 billion) for institutional and retail clients as of Sept. 30.
Ilene Chong, the Malaysian business's CIO for fixed income, and Yvonne Tan, its CIO for equity, will report to Mr. Chen, who in turn will report to CEO Lynn Cheah Lee Ling.
Mr. Chen had been director of investments at Kenanga Investors Berhad. Tracy Leong, a spokeswoman for Kenanga, said an announcement will be made shortly on Mr. Chen's successor.
