Robert D. Cresci was named senior fund manager at J O Hambro Capital Management, confirmed Patrick Seth, head of institutional business.
It is a new position. Mr. Cresci is setting up Hambro's first U.S. office in New York.
Mr. Cresci will be responsible for managing the firm's international small-cap strategy. He reports to London-based CEO Gavin Rochussen.
Hambro has about £9.2 billion ($14.3 billion) in assets under management, including about $2.5 billion in AUM for U.S.-based clients.
Mr. Cresci was previously a portfolio manager for international small-cap equity at Harding Loevner. Spokesman Tucker Hewes did not return a telephone call by press time for information on a replacement.
