Barrett Karr will join Carlyle Group as a principal leading the firm's U.S. government affairs efforts, confirmed Elizabeth Gill, spokesman for the alternative investment firm in an e-mail.
Ms. Karr replaces Bryan Corbett, a principal, who is now in a newly created position in Carlyle's executive group; Ms. Gill could not provide additional information.
Ms. Karr will start in March.
Ms. Karr is the majority staff director of the House Education and the Workforce Committee. Her exact start date at Carlyle and the specifics on her departure from her government post are to be determined.
