More than 73% of P&I Online readers believe companies will make meaningful discretionary contributions to shore up their pension plan's funded status in 2013.
At least five companies have announced plans to contribute more than $1 billion to their pension plans in 2013:
- Ford Motor expects to contribute $5 billion;
- Lockheed Martin expects to contribute $3.6 billion;
- Raytheon expects to contribute $3.2 billion;
- Verizon expects to contribute $1.7 billion; and
- Boeing expects to contribute $1.5 billion.
