George S. Canellos was named acting director of the SEC's enforcement division, Thursday.
Mr. Canellos will replace Robert Khuzami on Feb. 8.
David P. Bergers, director of the Securities and Exchange Commission's Boston regional office, will fill Mr. Canellos' previous position as deputy director of enforcement.
From 2009 until June 2012, Mr. Canellos was director of the SEC's New York office; before that, he was a federal prosecutor in New York.
