Khor Hock Seng will join U.K. insurance company Aviva PLC's Asia unit as CEO effective March 8.
Mr. Khor, who will be based in Singapore, will take on a portion of the responsibilities currently held by Simon Machell, Aviva's outgoing CEO for higher growth markets, confirmed Herbin Chia, a spokesman for the firm.
Mr. Khor will come to Aviva from AIA in Hong Kong, where he served as “regional executive responsible for a number of AIA's South East Asian markets,” according to an Aviva news release. AIA spokeswoman Ivis Tsang couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
Mr. Machell, the previous CEO of Aviva Asia, was promoted April 2012 and added the responsibility for overseeing business in Poland, Turkey and Russia. He will leave Aviva at the end of February.
The role of CEO for higher growth markets won't be filled, with further announcements coming concerning Poland, Turkey and Russia, Mr. Chia said.
Mr. Machell couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
