Los Angeles Fire & Police Pension System hired Cheiron to provide actuarial audit services, said William S. Raggio, interim general manager in an e-mailed response to questions.
System officials hired Cheiron to conduct an actuarial audit as a result of an RFP issued April 10. The Segal Co. is the system's primary auditor.
Also at its Jan. 3 meeting, the board directed Segal Co. to prepare a five-year projection of contributions, funded ratio and unfunded actuarial accrued liability at the system's assumed rate of return of 7.75%. In a Dec. 14 letter to the board, Los Angeles City Administrative Officer Miguel A. Santana asked for the study to help city officials calculate a multiyear budget outlook.
