Sarah Alexander will join middle-market emerging markets private equity firm Abraaj Group as managing director on Feb. 20 and will step down as CEO of the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association, Ms. Alexander confirmed.
“This is a terrific opportunity to join one of the leaders in the emerging market private equity space. They have a wonderfully broad view of their mission beyond investing for returns,” Ms. Alexander said.
The Washington-based trade group is looking for an executive search firm to conduct a nationwide search for a new CEO, she said. Ms. Alexander has been at the organization's helm since its inception in 2004.
EMPEA's executive committee will recommend that Jennifer Choi, EMPEA vice president of industry and external affairs be named interim CEO at the board of directors' Jan. 17 meeting. If the committee's recommendation is adopted, Ms. Choi's appointment would be effective Feb. 1.
