Gautam Banerjee joined the Blackstone Group as chairman of the private equity giant’s Singapore office.
The position is new.
Mr. Banerjee comes to Blackstone Singapore from PricewaterhouseCoopers Singapore, where he served as executive chairman until Dec. 31, when he retired following more than 30 years with PwC, having reached the firm’s mandatory retirement age for partners, confirmed PwC spokesman Eugene Tan.
Yeoh Oon Jin, leader of PwC’s assurance service business since 2004, assumed the position of executive chairman beginning Jan. 1.
According to a Blackstone news release Wednesday, Mr. Banerjee will also join Blackstone’s international advisory board.
The news release said Mr. Banerjee is a vice chairman of the Singapore Business Federation and serves on the boards of Singapore Airlines, the Government of Singapore Investment Corp., the Economic Development Board, the Straits Trading Co., the APEC Business Advisory Council and the Yale-NUS College.
Mr. Banerjee couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
