Catharine Burkett and Ben Cahyono were named co-directors of alternative investments at the $14 billion Georgia Employees’ Retirement System, Atlanta, confirmed James Potvin, executive director.
Both positions are new.
Ms. Burkett and Mr. Cahyono will oversee the pension fund’s move to alternatives following the passage last April of legislation allowing Georgia Employees and most other public pension funds in the state to invest up to 5% in alternatives.
Ms. Burkett was a principal and managing member at private equity manager Camden Partners, confirmed managing member Don Hughes. She has not been replaced, and a search for her replacement is not likely to begin until the end of the year, Mr. Hughes said.
Mr. Cahyono was assistant vice president, private equity and hedge fund analyst at Delaware Investments, confirmed Delaware spokeswoman Marlene Petter. She had no further information regarding a replacement.
