Sandip A. Bhagat resigned as head of Vanguard Group's equity investment group, according to an SEC filing Thursday by the firm.
The one-sentence filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission didn't provide a reason for Mr. Bhagat's departure or identify his replacement.
“Sandip left Vanguard to pursue other opportunities,” Linda Wolohan, a Vanguard spokeswoman said in an e-mail. “I'm not aware of what opportunities he's looking at.”
Mr. Bhagat “oversaw the portfolio managers, traders and other members of the teams running our equity index and quant funds,” wrote Ms. Wolohan, adding that the group manages about $925 billion in assets.
“We expect to formally announce soon the leadership of the equity investment group,” Ms. Wolohan added.
Mr. Bhagat, who joined Vanguard in 2009, could not be reached for comment.
