Santa Barbara County (Calif.) Employees' Retirement System hired Copper Rock Capital to run $20 million in active international small-cap equity, confirmed Eli Martinez, investment officer of the $2.1 billion pension fund.
Funding will come from rebalancing. Investment consultant Meketa Investment Group assisted. It is the pension fund's first investment in international small-cap equity.
Separately, the board hired Meketa Investment Group to provide consulting services for private natural resources and private infrastructure investments. The board approved a 5% allocation in March — 3% infrastructure and 2% natural resources. The pension fund is not at the stage of making investments yet, Mr. Martinez said in a telephone interview.
