Connecticut Retirement Plans and Trust Funds, Hartford, plans to commit $50 million to private equity fund Court Square Capital Partners III, pending contract negotiations, confirmed Christine Shaw, the deputy treasurer.
The commitment was approved by Denise Nappier, state treasurer and principal fiduciary for the six state pension funds and eight state trust funds with a combined $24.8 billion in assets. She announced the approval Wednesday at a meeting of the system's Investment Advisory Council.
Court Square Capital Partners III makes equity investments in business services, health care, technology, telecommunications and general industrial companies. It will “focus on upper-middle-market buyouts,” Ms. Shaw said in an e-mail.
The Connecticut Retirement Plans and Trust Funds had invested $100 million in 2006 with Court Square Capital Partners II LP.
