Fresno County (Calif.) Employees' Retirement Association hired Artisan Partners to manage $220 million in active international growth equity, confirmed Phillip Kapler, retirement administrator.
The hire is pending contract negotiations.
Funding comes from the October termination of Oechsle International Advisors, which managed the assets in a similar strategy, for performance.
William Blair & Co. was also a finalist. Investment consultant Wurts & Associates assisted with the shortlist search.
Separately, the $3.2 billion pension fund will conduct an asset/liability study in early 2013. Mr. Kapler said the results of the study likely will be presented to the board at the end of January or February.
