Mohammed Zaidi and Alan Wang will rejoin Principal Global Investors in Asia next month as the firm replaces veteran portfolio managers who left earlier in November.
Mr. Zaidi, who was a senior emerging markets equities analyst for Principal from 2001 through 2006, will return as a portfolio manager and head of emerging Asia strategies, confirmed Eric Abelev, a Hong Kong-based spokesman for the firm. Mr. Zaidi will be based in Principal's Singapore office.
Mr. Zaidi replaces Michael Ade, who left to become co-head of emerging markets equities at RS Investments in early November.
Mr. Zaidi was an analyst with Martin Currie Investment Management, based in Edinburgh. Amy Fisher, a spokeswoman with Martin Currie, noting her firm's extensive analyst lineup, said there are no immediate plans to replace Mr. Zaidi.
Mr. Wang, who was an emerging markets analyst and portfolio manager for Hong Kong equities at Principal through 2008, will return as a portfolio manager for Hong Kong and China equities and leader of the research team for the greater China region.
Mr. Abelev said Mr. Wang replaces Tony Chu, who likewise left earlier this month to join RS Investments.
Mr. Wang comes to Principal's Hong Kong office from Ping An of China Asset Management (HK) where he served as director, head of equities investments, according to a Principal news release.
A Ping An spokesman couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
Messrs. Zaidi and Wang will report to Mihail Dobrinov, who was named head of emerging market equities earlier this month. Mr. Dobrinov replaced Michael Reynal, who left to join RS Investments.
