U.S. private equity and venture capital returns for the quarter ended June 30 were down from the prior quarter, with private equity down 5.5 percentage points to -0.1% and venture capital down 4.1 percentage points with a 0.6% return, according to data released Tuesday by Cambridge Associates.
Cambridge's U.S. Private Equity index return was 6.2% for the year, 6% for the five years and 12.8% for the 10 years, all ended June 30. All periods were down from the previous quarter, when Cambridge's U.S. Private Equity index return was 10.9% for the year, 7.3% for the five years and 12.7% for the 10 years ended March 31.
Cambridge's U.S. Venture Capital index return was 6% for the year, 4.9% for the five years and 5.3% for the 10 years ended June 30. Only the 10-year return was an increase from the first quarter, when the U.S. Venture Capital index return was 12.8% for the year, 5.9% for the five years and 4.4% for the 10 years ended March 31.
