Kevin Kneafsey was named senior adviser to Schroder Investment Management's multiasset investment and portfolio solutions business.
The position is new.
Mr. Kneafsey will work part time as an internal adviser at Schroders focusing on multiasset portfolio solutions that deal with inflation, Mr. Kneafsey said in a telephone interview.
Mr. Kneafsey is “well known as an early thought leader” in the area of risk premium-based investing, Nicolaas Marais, London-based head of multiasset investments and portfolio solutions at Schroders, said in a news release.
Mr. Kneafsey, based in Walnut Creek, Calif., resigned as managing director and head of research at BlackRock's multiasset client solutions group on July 31.
“The reason I left was I'm trying to figure out what to do with the second half of my life,” Mr. Kneafsey said. His desire to pursue other interests outside of investment management became acute after attending a couple of funerals recently, he said.
Mr. Kneafsey will explore the possibility of teaching and is finishing a book of humorous vignettes culled from his own experiences.
“It's been good to have time with the people who love me,” Mr. Kneafsey said.
BlackRock spokeswoman Emma Phillips could not provide information on Mr. Kneafsey's replacement by press time.
