Georgia Firefighters' Pension Fund, Conyers, terminated Artio Global Investors, which ran $46 million in active global equities for the $588 million pension fund, confirmed James R. Meynard, executive director.
Executives at the pension fund lost “confidence in the strategy,” Mr. Meynard said in a telephone interview. The assets were moved to a global equity index fund managed by State Street Global Advisors, bringing the total in various index funds that SSgA manages for the fund to $106 million.
Artio spokesman Neil Shapiro wrote in an e-mail that the firm's policy is not to comment on client activity.
