Kentucky Teachers' Retirement System, Frankfort, hired Shenkman Capital Management to run $100 million in the pension fund's first bank-loan strategy, said Gary Harbin, executive secretary.
The $14.9 billion retirement system will fund the allocation from bond maturities and cash.
Separately, the pension fund committed $50 million each to Rockwood Capital Real Estate Partners IX, a value-added fund; TA Associates Realty Fund X, a value-added fund; and Actis Emerging Markets 4, a private equity fund. The commitments are Kentucky Teachers' first to all three managers.
