Stephen A. White was named president and CEO of Milliman, confirmed spokesman Jeremy Engdahl-Johnson.
Mr. White replaces Patrick Grannan, who retired after 34 years with the firm. Mr. Grannan had been president and CEO since 2001.
Mr. White's appointment is effective immediately, Mr. Engdahl-Johnson said in a telephone interview. The principals chose Mr. White through an internal election process, and the choice was confirmed by Milliman's board.
Mr. White joined Milliman in 1985 and was most recently a principal and consulting actuary in the Seattle office.
“Steve White brings a wealth of hands-on consulting experience to his new role as president and CEO,” said Brad Smith, board chairman, in a news release. “His abilities as a leader, problem solver and consensus builder will serve him well in the days and years ahead.”
