Stephen J. McGuinness was named senior managing director at Strategic Value Partners, confirmed spokesman Todd Fogarty.
It is a new position. Mr. McGuinness is responsible for the firm's business development activities and reports to Victor Kholsa, founder and senior managing director.
Mr. McGuinness left Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where he was co-COO, in April 2011.
