Hedge fund industry assets increased 3.2% to $2.317 trillion for the first six months of 2012, according to analysis of half-year asset flows from PerTrac.
Single and multistrategy hedge fund assets rose 5.23% to $1.892 trillion in the six months ended June 30, while hedge fund-of-funds assets declined 4.92% to $425 billion, according to PerTrac.
Researchers at the hedge fund software specialist attributed “part of the slide” in assets managed by hedge funds of funds to “the decline in the number of them reporting information to databases, which slipped by 3.81% to 3,259” funds of funds as of June 30, according to a news release accompanying the report.
PerTrac's study is based on analysis of 11 major hedge fund performance databases.
