Paul H. Smith was hired as managing director of Asia-Pacific operations of the CFA Institute, effective Oct. 3, according to a statement from the association of investment professionals and standard-setting organization.
Mr. Smith replaces Ashvin Vibhakar, who will continue as managing director leading strategic initiatives.
Mr. Smith is chairman and CEO of Asia Alternative Asset Partners (Caymans) Ltd. He will be based in Hong Kong for the CFA Institute.
Executive recruiting firm Spencer Stuart assisted the CFA Institute in conducting a global search to fill the position.
