Francesco Ossino joined Newfleet Asset Management, a fixed-income affiliate of Virtus Investment Partners, as a senior managing director and senior portfolio manager, heading up Newfleet's bank loan asset-class business.
The position is new, confirmed Joe Fazzino, a Virtus spokesman.
Mr. Ossino will be a portfolio manager on the $433 Virtus Senior Floating Rate fund, joining David L. Albrycht, Newfleet's chief investment officer for multisector fixed-income strategies and Kyle A. Jennings, a senior managing director and the head of credit research.
Mr. Ossino comes to Newfleet from Wellington Management, where he served briefly as a vice president and portfolio manager on the $5.5 billion Hartford Floating Rate fund. In early 2012, he moved to Wellington from Hartford Investment Management, where he served as a senior vice president and portfolio manager since 2004.
Hartford Financial Services Group transferred the subadvisory contract for Hartford's fixed-income funds to Wellington from HIMCO at the end of 2011.
Wellington spokeswoman Sara Lou Sherman declined to comment.
