Charles Schwartz, Betsy Pecor and Matthew McGeary were named portfolio co-managers for small-cap and midcap equity at Eagle Asset Management, and Matthew Spitznagle joined as a senior research analyst.
The positions are new, according to an Eagle Asset news release.
The four came from Sentinel Investments, where Mr. Schwartz and Ms. Pecor were senior vice presidents and portfolio managers and Mr. McGeary was a vice president and portfolio manager. They oversaw the $2.3 billion Sentinel Small Company, the $96 million Sentinel Mid Cap and the $78 million Sentinel Mid Cap II funds.
Mr. Spitznagle was an equity analyst.
Carole Hersam, portfolio manager on the $111 million Sentinel Sustainable Mid Cap Opportunities fund, will have lead “oversight responsibility” of the small company and midcap funds, according to a Sentinel news release.
Christian Thwaites, Sentinel's president and CEO, said in the news release that the funds managed by the team will be “reassigned to highly regarded and experienced fund managers.”
In a telephone interview, John Haase, a portfolio specialist with Sentinel Investments, said Sentinel is actively seeking seasoned candidates, both internal and external, to join the management teams for those funds in the coming months.
