Texas County & District Retirement System, Austin, committed $75 million to private equity fund Carlyle Partners VI.
The commitment, made on Wednesday, is the fund's second to Carlyle Group: $40 million was committed to Carlyle Realty Partners VI on June 30, 2011, according to a transaction report on the $17.6 billion retirement system's website.
With the new Carlyle fund, TCDRS has committed a total of $732 million to private equity, real estate and distressed debt, the transaction report showed.
The retirement system's private equity target is 10% of total assets. Actual investments and commitments totaled 6% as of June 30, but with the addition of $160 million of commitments made to four new funds since July 1, investments and commitments rose to 6.9% of plan assets.
