Natixis Global Asset Management can toot its own horn this fall when it supports a jazz festival and music scholarship in Boston.
The money manager is sponsoring the Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival from Sept. 28-30. The festival is the last of Berklee College of Music's annual Summer in the City series, which hosts more than 100 free outdoor music performances from May to September.
“Boston is an amazing city, and we thought one of these years we could help them in the jazz area, which is a big part of the community,” said John Hailer, president and CEO of Natixis in Boston. “Our company is very focused on our charitable donations and non-profits.”
This is the second year Natixis is sponsoring the festival. This year's festival highlights women in jazz.
Natixis will also present its second annual Natixis-Berklee City Music Scholarship at the festival, where one high school student will receive $5,000 toward a Berklee summer music program.
“One of the biggest cuts we're seeing (in education programs) is in arts and music,” he said. “We're hoping to help high school kids get some support by keeping them engaged in jazz.”
