New York State Teachers' Retirement System, Albany, committed up to $200 million to private equity fund Silver Lake Partners IV LP, confirmed John Cardillo, spokesman for the $89.9 billion pension fund.
Mr. Cardillo, in an e-mail, described the Silver Lake fund as specializing in global technology. NYSTRS has committed a total of $140 million with two previous Silver Lake Partners funds.
The pension fund allocated up to $250 million to Wellington Management to manage a global bonds portfolio for one year.
This is a new investment category for NYSTRS, Mr. Cardillo wrote. The target for global bonds is 2% of NYSTRS assets. The global bond allocation was OK'd by the board in July 2011.
Both allocations are subject to due diligence. They were approved at Wednesday's quarterly board meeting.
