Lockheed Martin Corp., Bethesda, Md., contributed $607 million in cash to its worldwide defined benefit plans in the second quarter, bringing the six-month total to $1.11 billion and fulfilling the company's required commitment for 2012, spokeswoman Jennifer Whitlow said in an interview.
In 2011, Lockheed contributed $2.3 billion to its worldwide DB plans.
As of Dec. 31, Lockheed had $27 billion in DB assets and $13.5 billion in unfunded liabilities. The plan was frozen to new employees in 2006.
