New York State Common Retirement Fund, Albany, allocated an additional $100 million to emerging markets equity manager Genesis Investment Management, bringing the pension fund's total investment with Genesis to $400 million, confirmed Eric Sumberg, a spokesman for state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, sole trustee of the $150.3 billion pension fund.
The pension fund, according to the monthly transaction report on its website, also made the following private equity commitments:
- A $75 million commitment to Clearwater Capital Partners Fund IV, which “invests in distressed debt and other special situations in Asia,” Jennifer Freeman, a spokeswoman for Mr. DiNapoli, wrote in an e-mail. Ms. Freeman added that the New York state pension fund had previously committed $50 million to another Clearwater Capital fund.
- A first-time commitment of $10 million to Fortissimo Capital Fund III, which Ms. Freeman said focused on growth companies in Israel.
- A €10 million ($12.4 million) commitment to Quadriga Capital Private Equity Fund IV. Ms. Freeman wrote that Quadriga Capital is a midmarket buyout and private equity firm in Germany, adding that the New York pension fund previously committed €20 million to another Quadriga fund.
