Rodney L. June is returning to Los Angeles City Employees’ Retirement System on July 10 as chief investment officer, according to a news release from the $10.4 billion pension fund.
Mr. June is CIO of the $11.5 billion Hawaii Employees’ Retirement System, Honolulu. Vijoy Chattergy, investment specialist, has been named interim CIO, subject to administrative approvals, said Wes Machida, administrator for the retirement system. The board is in the process of determining the search process, he said.
LACERS’ previous CIO Daniel Gallagher retired in June 2010. Wayne Ige, investment officer and head of public markets investments, served as acting CIO until his retirement in April. Since then, Sara Griggs, senior investment officer, has served as acting CIO.
Mr. June had been an investment officer at LACERS from 1998 to 2008.
