Sherry Rexroad was named chief investment officer of BlackRock's new global real estate securities platform, confirmed spokesman Brian Beades.
The position is new.
Ms. Rexroad will be responsible for building and leading the REIT team for the new platform, which was formed to seek trends and investment opportunities in real estate investment trusts with a fundamental approach. She will report to Mark Howard-Johnson, global head of BlackRock's real estate securities group.
Ms. Rexroad most recently was senior portfolio manager, REITs-Americas, for Aviva Investors' global listed real estate securities team. Analysts covering the region will take over responsibility of the North American portfolios in the interim as Aviva searches for her replacement, said Aviva spokesman Martin Gawne said.
