Illinois Teachers' Retirement System, Springfield, is searching for a large-cap domestic growth equities manager to run $200 million to $500 million, confirmed David Urbanek, spokesman for the $37 billion pension fund.
Mr. Urbanek would not comment on the funding source and said it has not been determined by staff whether to pursue an active or passive investment strategy.
R.V. Kuhns, the retirement system's investment consultant, will identify potential candidates. Interested managers can contact R.V. Kuhns about the search, Mr. Urbanek said.
TRS is looking to allocate 3% to 5% of the $8 billion domestic equity portfolio. It is anticipated one firm will be hired.
The search document be found on the TRS website. Proposals are due July 2. Staff will present finalists at the October or December board meeting, with a hiring decision expected shortly after.
