Bill Raggio was promoted to general manager of the Los Angeles Fire & Police Pension System.
Mr. Raggio, who was assistant general manager, replaces Michael Perez, who is retiring on May 4. The board selected Mr. Raggio at Monday's board meeting after a nationwide search; he will start work on May 7.
“He had the backing of the entire board for this position, which says a great deal about their opinion of him,” Mr. Perez said in a written statement to staff. “Anyone who has worked with Bill, as I have, knows him to be committed to excellence in meeting our responsibilities to our members, and committed to supporting and helping you, our staff, who are vital to providing the members their promised benefits.”
