Gregory W. Smith was named interim executive director of the $38.3 billion Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association, Denver, according to an e-mail from spokeswoman Katie Kaufmanis.
Mr. Smith is the retirement plan's chief operating officer and general counsel, and will assume the interim role on June 30, following the departure of Meredith Williams. Mr. Williams was named executive director of the National Council on Teacher Retirement on April 5; his resignation is effective June 30.
The PERA board also created a committee to search for a permanent replacement for Mr. Williams. The committee will be chaired by James Casebolt, who has served on the board since 1999.
