Phillip Kapler was named retirement administrator at the $3 billion Fresno County (Calif.) Employees' Retirement Association, according to an audiocast of Wednesday's board meeting.
Mr. Kapler replaces Roberto Pena, who left in September to take a position with the $2.1 billion Puerto Rico Employees' Retirement System, Hato Rey.
Mr. Kapler previously was executive director of the $950 million St. Paul (Minn.) Teachers' Retirement Fund Association; he resigned in August 2010.
Alliance Resource Consulting, an executive search firm, assisted with the search.
Eulalio Gomez, Fresno pension fund board chairman, did not respond to a request for comment by press time.
