John Liu, New York City comptroller, is seeking a senior director-financial management in his office's Bureau of Asset Management, which oversees investments and investment advisers for the $118.5 billion New York City Retirement Systems, according to a posting on the comptroller's website.
The position is new, Michael Loughran, a spokesman for Mr. Liu, said in an e-mail. “This will help us grow our infrastructure internally, especially as we diversify our portfolio and invest in new asset classes,” Mr. Loughran wrote.
The senior director will oversee the daily operation of the divisions of investment control, cash management and financial reporting, according to information posted on the website at www.comptroller.nyc.gov/bureaus/adm/pdf-jobs-2012/Senior-Director-JVN-015-12-037.pdf.
The position also oversees preparation of financial reports for the five city pension funds within the pension system and prepares financial analyses of pension costs and performance information, the website said.
