Alberto Jimenez Crespo, Gregory Padilla and Isabel Satra, portfolio managers at international equity boutique Tradewinds Global Investors, will be leaving the firm over the next few months, confirmed Kristyna Munoz, a spokeswoman for Tradewinds parent Nuveen Investments.
The three portfolio managers are leaving along with David Iben, co-president and chief investment officer, who is leaving Tradewinds at the end of June to join hedge fund Vinik Asset Management.
It could not be learned by press time where Messrs. Crespo and Padilla, and Ms. Satra are going.
With the departure of Mr. Crespo as co-manager of the $1.4 billion Nuveen Tradewinds International Value Fund, co-manager Peter Boardman becomes sole manager of the fund, Ms. Munoz said.
Replacing Mr. Iben as portfolio managers of the $3.3 billion Nuveen Tradewinds Value Opportunities Fund will be Joann Barry and F. Rowe Michels, effective April 1. Ms. Barry is a managing director, portfolio manager, and media and paper/forest products analyst at Tradewinds, and Mr. Michels is a managing director, portfolio manager and director of research at the firm.
Replacing Mr. Iben as portfolio managers on the $2 billion Tradewinds Global All-Cap Fund will be Emily Alejos and Andrew Thelen. Ms. Alejos and Mr. Thelen are both managing directors, equity analysts/portfolio managers with the firm. Among their other duties, Mr. Thelen manages the firm's $1.7 million Nuveen Tradewinds Small-Cap Opportunities Fund, while Ms. Alejos serves as co-manager of the $123 million Nuveen Tradewinds Emerging Markets Fund.
Ms. Munoz said Tradewinds has yet to name replacements for Messrs. Iben, Crespo and Padilla as managers of the $168 million Nuveen Tradewinds Global Resources Fund, or for Mr. Iben as manager of the $51 million Nuveen Tradewinds Global All-Cap Plus Fund.
Separately, Ariane F. Mahler will join Michael A. Hart as co-manager of the $3.2 million Nuveen Tradewinds Global Flexible Allocation Fund, effective April 1, replacing Mr. Iben and Ms. Satra. Ms. Mahler is a portfolio manager and equity analyst with the firm.
