Montana Board of Investments, Helena, will issue an RFP for a general investment consultant in early summer, confirmed David Ewer, executive director, in an e-mail.
The decision was approved by board members this week. Mr. Ewer anticipates that proposals will be due in early fall. Incumbent R.V. Kuhns, which has held the contract since 2005, is invited to rebid. The RFP will be posted on the board’s website, www.investmentmt.com.
The investment board, which oversees a total of $7.4 billion in retirement assets from nine separate pension funds, had a 2.1% return for 2011 and 4.8% for the quarter ended Dec. 31.
Domestic equities returned 0.44% for the year but returned 11.53% for the quarter. For the year, private equity had the best return at 15.09%; real estate, 14.17%; fixed income, 7.69%; and international equity, -14.64%.
